The Klase laboratory studies the molecular pathogenesis of the HIV-1 virus, the causative agent of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The major focus of our work is two-fold: transcriptional regulation of the virus and the involvement of RNA interference in the viral life cycle. A common theme that now binds these investigations together is a desire to understand how drugs of abuse exacerbate viral disease.

We perform our work in sunny Philadelphia at The Drexel University College of Medicine. We are an active lab within the department of pharmacology and physiology, located in the New College Building
